24/7 CRISIS RESPONSE

If this is an emergency, please call 911.

Experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking can have lasting emotional and mental health impacts.

Abuse is not limited to physical harm. Emotional, psychological, and financial — as well as isolation and control — can be deeply damaging. Family members, children, and others who witness violence may also be affected.

Every survivor’s experience is unique.

You may feel fear, anger, shame, guilt, confusion, grief, or numbness. These responses are normal reactions to trauma. Abuse is never your fault, and support can help you heal and move forward.

Hotline Outer Banks offers free, confidential counseling services with licensed, trained counselors who provide trauma-informed care in a safe, supportive environment. Counseling focuses on your safety, well-being, and personal goals, honoring your choices every step of the way.

Counseling may help address:

  • Anxiety, depression, and overwhelming stress
  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress (PTSD)
  • Self-esteem and identity after abuse
  • Relationship and trust challenges
  • Grief, loss, and life transitions
  • Financial stress and rebuilding stability
  • Healing from past abuse or recent trauma

Services are available to individuals currently experiencing violence as well as survivors of past abuse. When you call to request services, we will connect you with a counselor to discuss your needs and schedule an initial intake appointment as quickly as possible.

Hotline Outer Banks also offers support groups focused on a variety of topics. Call for information about upcoming sessions and how to participate.

If you are unsure whether counseling is right for you, we are here to talk and help you explore your options.

You deserve support, healing, and a path forward.
